Reception children have been reading The Stick Man at Forest School this term, we have been working on developing our fine and gross motor skills. During our first session we read the story and went on a stick hunt in our Forest School area, using the sticks collected we each made our own stick man, this was very fiddly and required the children to be patient and take great care when attaching the sticks.
During our 2nd session, we worked as a team to transport and build a stick man house using different sized planks of wood and the trees in our area to support this structure. The children worked cooperatively to move the planks around safely and used their decision making skills to figure out the best way to place these.
We enjoyed learning about stick man and using the natural materials to recreate the story!
